Aranyaprathet is approx 240 KM due east of Bangkok on the Cambodian border. Immediately across the border is the casino town Poipet.
Located in the center of Aranyaprathet next to the morning fresh produce market and about 5 km. from the Thai Cambodian border The Market Motel with 60 rooms is a very popular and economic overnight stopover for tourists + backpackers traveling from Bangkok to Poipet then to Angkor Wat (Siem Reap), Phnom Penh and beyond, many travelers also stay over on their return trip, often for a few days and find it very relaxing, spending their time by our swimming pool, set in a tropical garden, or having a drink and snacks under the mango tree in our popular Hide Away cafe + bar. Breakfast, lunch or dinner is also very enjoyable with a nice bottle of champagne or wine in the Market Fresh restaurant.
We are also very well known by the expat and long stay tourist community, who need to come to the border once a month to renew their visa. Many of them live on a small pension or tight budget, so we have a lot of experience in looking after them very well which is most cases is very much appreciated.
We are a family run hotel where we are on a first name basis with most of our regular guests. A hotel where a first time guest arrives as a stranger and leaves as a friend. (Now, that is now very rare in this world).
The Market Motel is owned by Kornwipa Land, a Thai lady who has lived in Australia for several years and speaks excellent English, she runs the Market Motel to western standards as to cleanliness, service, at Thai prices, which is very rare in rural Thailand.
The Market Hotel (motel) is mentioned as a good place to stay 2007 Lonely Planet travel guide (see page 271).
Kornwipa also has a lot of knowledge in travel and can arrange travel from Bangkok or Pattaya to Aranyaprathet and Poipet and through to Angkor Wat, Phnom Penh and other destination in Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos or China.
